National Travel & Tourism Week (NTTW) this year is themed the #FacesOfTravel so we’re exploring the individuals behind-the-scenes at several of our visitor-related businesses. Brock Southwick of GunDogs Catering is one of our newest pals. He is friendly, approachable, and accommodating to guests, all essential in our industry. Brock T. Southwick, General Manager, Co-Owner, Chief Dog Slinger
Duties: Business Development, Accounting, Purchasing, Cook, Dishwasher, Part-time Cashier, Marketing, Hotdog vending
Where have you worked/which jobs have you had before now?
My primary background is heavy civil construction management and engineering. I’ve managed construction projects focused in the water/wastewater industry.
What keeps you at this job and in this county?
The remarkable cross-section of America that makes up Chatham County. This county has incredible natural beauty, holds a wealth of history, as well as a promising future. (Side note from the CVB: Wholeheartedly agree!)
What do you find most special/significant about this destination (either Chatham County or your specific place of business or both)?
GunDogs Catering strives to have a product to fit every appetite in a diverse and changing culture. We strive to source local ingredients for our coney sauce, and our all-natural products are NC agriculture sourced from the Weeping Radish Farm Brewery and Butchery. Even our Coney sauce has taken on a southern flavor by incorporating Famously Original Cackalacky spice sauce into our proven recipe!
