An oasis has many interpretations and most define one as a welcome place, a respite, a haven, a sanctuary. An oasis can be shared among many and commonly known or newly discovered (and not shared, to keep it a secret). We’re going to share because it’s not a secret nor one we would ever want to keep.
We were already excited about the upcoming opening of Peppercorn and we are now doubly pleased since another welcome place will open in historic downtown Siler City, Oasis Open Air Market. Vendors are still being added, and two have already joined for January events.
Oasis is a place for local fare, from food to crafts, including locally-grown and raised produce, cheese, and meats. It will also serve as an outdoor venue for fundraiser and social events. Vendors are being added; currently, find Chewy’s Smokin’ BBQ and others. Coney dogs; bratwurst; beef and pork, Brazilian-style sausages; Cuban-style BBQ sandwiches; homemade potato salad; and homemade coleslaw are only a handful of items on the menu (Jan 6, 7) thus far.
The idea grew from expanding the Siler City farmers’ market and integrating so many of Siler City’s active partners: farmers, entrepreneurs, vendors at the NC Arts Incubator, and others. Siler City’s art, music, events, and the many business owners continue to collaborate and we’re lucky for it so take a trip to this, our Oasis, soon.
Note: Food truck rodeo scheduled for Jan 27, 28, from 10.30am – 3pm. Details to follow. More information for interested vendors available online.
